The Manila Hotel’s Christmas 2023 highlights Filipino traditions

The festive holiday celebration officially began at The Manila Hotel with the lighting of its splendid Christmas Tree as the Grand Dame held its Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 9.

The giant Christmas Tree, meticulously adorned with opulent golden Ilang-Ilang blooms, the official flower of the hotel, now aglow in the Grand Lobby. The color palette featured a harmonious blend of gold, natural hues, and vibrant red, creating a visually stunning display that resonated with the essence of the season. The concept and execution of this holiday décor were the brainchild of Mr. Rachy Cuna, The Manila Hotel Creative & Design Director.

The Office of the President Chorale serenaded the hotel guests with traditional Christmas carols adding to the festive spirit of the night imbued in Filipino traditions. Further, in the spirit of giving and sharing, The Manila Hotel has chosen the House of Refuge as the beneficiary of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The House of Refuge is a halfway house which gives shelter and provides the basic needs of street children.

“The spirit of Christmas is love. That’s why God sent his son to save us, because He loves us,” Atty. Lina extolled.

“As we aspire to be a part of every family’s Christmas celebration, may our lit Christmas tree serve as a reflection of the hotel’s commitment to embodying the spirit of Filipino traditions this holiday season,” added Marvin Kim Tan, The Manila Hotel Director of Sales and Marketing.

Building a robust national ICT infrastructure

The opportunities from digital innovations were accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic as limitations on mobility prompted citizens to accelerate migration to digital spaces. In the Philippines, these changes are evident in the growth of digital payment systems, online meeting platforms, electronic health services, online retail, direct delivery services, and many others. However, with increasing connectivity comes increasing cyber threats. That’s why efficient solutions and infrastructure are essential in combating cyber threats and ensuring business survival. Individually, Filipinos are susceptible to data breaches and privacy violations online. On a societal level, cyberattacks by state or non-state actors on critical infrastructure can undermine national security and impact economic activity. While cyber threats originate online, their consequences can manifest beyond the digital space into our physical lives. These kinds of attacks also have direct economic costs. In fact, f
