GMA's teen stars show acting prowess through Dormitoryo

Teen actress Lauren Young is happy with the projects given to her by the Kapuso Network. She signed contract with GMA-7 only last year and already, she has bagged back-to-back projects with the network namely the recently concluded soap “Mundo Mo’y Akin” and “Dormitoryo” which premiered last Sunday, Sept. 22. Dormitoryo is topbilled by Lauren Young together with GMA’s teen stars Joyce Ching, Wyn Marquez, Ruru Madrid, and Enzo Pineda. Completing the cast are Mayton Eugenio, Annicka Dolonius, Ash Nordstrom and Mel Kimura. The series focuses on the search of Hazel Mendoza (Lauren Young), an incoming freshman Mass Communication student at Branwood College, for answers on the death of Maika Benitez (Wyn Marquez) who died in the same dormitory she’s staying at—the Holy Spirit Manor. It may just be a mere accident for the police but the dormers have a different speculation on Maika’s death. Tickling Hazel’s curiosity more is her snappy roommate Weng Dimagiba (Mayton Eugenio) who believes that Maika’s ex-boyfriend Burn Chavez (Enzo Pineda) was the one who pushed Maika into committing suicide. On her way towards unraveling the cause of Maika’s death, Hazel eventually meets Burn who used to have a secret relationship with Maika. As he tries to help in the case, this heartthrob varsity player soon develops feelings for Hazel. Will he be able to get a shot or is this just his way to distract Hazel? Ready to comfort Hazel is her batchmate Charlie Chavez (Ruru Madrid). Bringing light to Hazel’s serious personality, this aspiring film director always radiates a positive and friendly vibe. Despite being fearful, boy-next-door Charlie is an avid fan of horror movies. But, will he be brave enough to admit his feelings for Hazel? Because of the attention Hazel is getting, here comes Airiz De Ocampo (Joyce Ching) all set to take the spotlight. She wants to be noticed and is quite a snazzy dresser. Despite being the talk of the town, this 19-year old flirty girl loves to be at the heart of a scandal. Will she also lure the attention of Burn towards her? And what is her connection to Maika’s death?
Surprises and revelations are yet to be disclosed as Hazel moves closer towards solving the mystery. Will she be able to discover the truth behind Maika’s death or will she suffer the same fate as Maika? A suspense thriller on a Sunday afternoon? Why not? Many Filipinos loved to be to be thrilled and frightened a bit especially when just hanging around and spend the rest of the weekend at home. Based on the pilot episode on Sunday, Dormitoryo promises to be a mystery adventure for the teen stars who give justice to their respective roles. The expressive eyes of Lauren as Hazel gives it all that she’s disturbed and frightened yet ready to brave it all to solve the death of her elder sister! On the personal side, Lauren shared she's flying to Jakarta, Indonesia to watch older sister Megan compete in the Miss World competition on September 28. Lauren also said she's very proud of her sister because Megan really gave her all in the local competition. "I'm very, very proud of her because I saw how hard she worked and how dedicated she is. She's not only doing it for herself, but also to make her country proud," said Lauren. Meanwhile, her co-star Wyn Marquez expressed her desire to join beauty competitions and become a beauty queen someday. “I am preparing for this and I will join in the right time,” she said. Ruru and Enzo, on the other hand, are happy with the good roles coming their ways. Ruru, the most neophyte in the group, is getting much attention these days because of his scene-stealing moments at Sunday All Stars. While Enzo is getting the chance to do more challenging role – the bad, chic-boy image through Dormitoryo. Good luck, guys!
