Tourism Malaysia Holds Strategic Philippines Sales Mission for Visit Malaysia 2026–2027

Tourism Malaysia's Sales Mission in Manila on August 18 at Shangri-la Makati Hotel

Building on its remarkable success as a globally competitive powerhouse in the international tourism industry, Tourism Malaysia recently spearheaded a high-impact Sales Mission to the Philippines across Manila, Davao, and Cebu. This multi-city initiative brought together 21 Malaysian tourism stakeholders and 340 Filipino buyers for targeted business-to-business (B2B) networking, showcasing Malaysia’s world-class attractions, rich cultural heritage, and premier Muslim-friendly facilities.

Filipino travelers hold a vital and rapidly growing place in Malaysia’s tourism landscape, driven by robust air connectivity—featuring approximately 59 weekly flights and over 11,615 seats—as well as close cultural affinities and a surging regional demand for diverse leisure and business travel. Capitalizing on these strong ties, Malaysia’s tourism sector has flourished, welcoming 299,633 Filipino visitors by mid-2026 alone.

Mr. Lee Thai Hung, Deputy Director General (Promotions II) of Tourism Malaysia, said, "The Philippines continues to be a promising source market for Malaysia, supported by strong air connectivity, close cultural ties, and increasing demand for regional travel. Through this sales mission, Tourism Malaysia remains committed to strengthening our partnership with the Filipino travel industry while positioning Malaysia as the preferred destination for leisure, business events, shopping, nature, culture, and Muslim-friendly tourism in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026–2027."

Through these sustained promotional efforts and fruitful industry partnerships, Tourism Malaysia continues to cement its status as a preferred global destination while successfully driving the momentum toward the ambitious goals of the  campaign.

Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026-2027), with the extended campaign to 2027, underscores Malaysia’s commitment to sustainable tourism development, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). The campaign aims to showcase the nation’s diverse natural attractions, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant tourism offerings, while driving inclusive growth and long-term value for local communities and industry stakeholders.
