1Laba Day: Moms' special treat and day off from washing clothes

I am a man but the labor and nitty-gritty of doing the laundry is nothing new to me. I do my own laundry ever since my high school days even now that I already belong to the country’s work force. There was even a time that I was in charge of my three sisters’ laundry being the eldest of four kids, in a bid to help mom and pop as they work outside of the home to feed us four and send us to school.

That’s why I was most willing to pitch-in for mom when he asked me to cover a laundry event by Unilever Philippines.


It turned out that Unilever  through its detergent powder brand Breeze was treating moms all over the country to a day off from washing clothes with 1Laba Day, a simultaneous nationwide event on August 28, 2014, in Metro Manila (Pasig, Marikina, Quezon City, Pasay), North Luzon (Tarlac, Pangasinan),  South Luzon (Laguna, Cavite) Visayas (Cebu)  and Mindanao  (Davao).

Breeze Laba Ladies and Laba Machines, sponsored by campaign partners Electrolux, LG, Whirlpool and White Westinghouse, took care of washing the clothes while the heroes of the home enjoy the fun games and exciting surprises that the brand prepared for them.

Celebrity moms and surprise guests also added color and excitement to the series of events. Christine Bersola-Babao, Gladys Reyes and Dimples Romana headlined the festivities in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City.  Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte also graced the event and met with mommies who are enjoying the activities and treats from Breeze.

“Through 1 Laba Day, we want to reach out to moms across the country thank them for being heroes who always put the needs of their families first,” said Mara Banson, Breeze brand manager.  “For sure, they can always rely on Breeze as their dependable partner in taking care of their loved ones.” 

Sige Mom Christine said that Breeze allows busy moms like her to spend less time washing clothes and have more time for her kids. “With the 1 Laba guarantee, I am assured that my family’s clothes are clean and fresh in just one wash and with less effort,” she said.

“All moms want the best for our kids and Breeze allows us to do that,” added Sige Mom Dimples who’s beautiful then ever even as she’s three months of the family way with her second child. “I’m not afraid to let my 10-year old daughter run, bike and be active because I know it’s the best way for her to learn. And I don’t have to worry about the stains on her clothes because I have Breeze.” 

For Sige Mom Gladys, having Breeze as an ally eases her worries and makes her more comfortable to let her kids be kids. “We always have fun, learn and make memories together. Sometimes the messier the activity, the more fun it is!” she said.
With 1 Laba Day, Breeze also aimed to wash 1 million stains using Breeze ActivBleach which removes even the toughest of stains in just one wash.

To prove Breeze ActivBleach’s efficacy, several chemicals and food ingredients which cause mind boggling stain on clothes were mixed and poured on white shirts. Three brands were used to wash off the stains but Breeze powder gave the amazing result of removing stains in just one wash in a jiffy!
