As the Philippine cinematic landscape is undergoing a remarkable transformation and Filipino actors are increasingly stepping onto the global stage, it is but fitting that the upcoming 41st PMPC Star Awards for Movies is themed “Bagong Dekada ng Makabagong Pelikula,”
Today, Filipino actors are now commanding attention in Hollywood blockbusters and critically acclaimed independent films. Thanks to the increasing accessibility of global platforms and co-productions, allowing Filipino stories and talents to transcend geographical boundaries.
On November 30, 2025 (Sunday), the newly built Makabagong San Juan Theater proudly hosts its first major entertainment event, the 41st edition of the highly anticipated Star Awards for movies commending the crème de la crème of the movie industry for 2025.
Behind the event is GSD Studios, led by Elai Tabilog and directed by Jorron Lee Monroy, with support from sponsors Playtime, Puregold, San Juan City, PLDT, Reddit, Fat Smoke, Emperador Distillers Inc., Taters, and Little Miss Matcha.
Leading the major awards of the night is the MOVIE OF THE YEAR, a stiff competition between films of great cinematic effect and powerful storytelling.
The citation is a toss among Espantaho (Quantum Films, Cineko Productions, Purple Bunny Productions); Green Bones (GMA Pictures, GMA Public Affairs, Brightburn Entertainment); Hello Love Again (ABS-CBN Films, GMA Pictures); Isang Himala (UxS Inc., CreaZion Studios, Kapitol Films, CMB Film Service, Inc.); My Future You (Regal Entertainment); Topakk (Nathan Studios, Strawdogs Studio Production, Fusee); Un/Happy for You (ABS-CBN Films, Viva Films); and Uninvited (Mentorque Productions, Project 8 Projects.
From these movies, most likely, would emerge the winners in various categories such as Movie Director, Movie Actress & Supporting Actress, Movie Actor & Supporting Actor of the Year, and many more.
Aside from shining the spotlight on the outstanding movies, casts, and crews, the Star Awards shall also pay homage to those who built the foundations of Philippine cinema.

This year, the PMPC recognizes iconic producer Jesse Ejercito, From shepherding blockbuster classics to discovering and developing talents like Lorna Tolentino and Amy Austria, Ejercito’s legacy behind the camera is etched deeply into the golden years of Philippine filmmaking.
Ethel Ramos Dean’s Lister Lifetime Achievement Award
Two pillars of entertainment journalism—Mercy Lejarde and Crispina M. Belen—receive this year’s Dean’s Lister Award. Celebrating 50 years of commitment to chronicling showbiz, their recognition is a tribute to a lifetime of storytelling, integrity, and service to the industry. For many, this honor is not only deserved—it is long overdue.
The evening is also a night of remembrance for showbiz’s dearly departed. The In Memoriam segment, Asia’s Soul Siren Nina leads the heartfelt tribute, honoring beloved icons who recently passed, including Gloria Romero, Director Mike De Leon, Delia Razon, Rosa Rosal, Ricky Davao, Freddie Aguilar, Hajji Alejandro, Pilita Corrales, and National Artist Nora Aunor.
While honoring awardees, the evening also features memorable performances and appearances from artists such as Rufa Mae Quinto, Viñas Deluxe, Amiel Sol, and presenters including Gary Estrada, Seth Fedelin, Sunshine Cruz, Chanda Romero, and Rez Cortez.
