Recognized
as the Philippines' Leading Airport Hotel, Savoy Hotel Manila, part of Megaworld Hotels and
Resorts (MHR) group, features 684 thoughtfully designed rooms, making it the
perfect choice for both business and leisure travelers.
Here,
comfort meets vibrant experiences, ensuring a stay that's as seamless as it is
memorable. Our group of media friends and travel buddies had a comfy room
overlooking NAIA terminal 3, reminding us we are not far from the city, yet
provincial destinations are just an hour away if we wish to explore further.

Our group of print and online media across all media platforms gather at the poolside for the coverage of SHM sustainable tourism event a week before the Holy Week of 2025. |
As first timers in Savoy, of course, our group opted to indulge in hotel amenities like a spa treatment, massage or gym, a dip in the pool, or a delicious meal at the in-house restaurant. We were in for the “Greener Together: A Gathering of Media Advocates for Sustainable Tourism,” event a week before the observance of Holy Week 2025.
As it is
nestled in the vibrant Newport City, guests are steps away from an array of
restaurants, coffee shops, retail outlets, and entertainment venues. Its prime
location ensures effortless connectivity to key business hubs like Makati and
Bonifacio Global City, as well as recreational destinations such as Villamor
Golf Club and Manila's cultural landmarks. Some of us decided to check out the
nearby places of interest for photo shoot.

Breakfast buffet at Savoy Cafe |
After an
immersive sustainability experience of the hotel – by visiting their vertical
gardens and sharing the hotel’s successful urban gardening initiatives – we were
treated to an unlimited Barbecue Night by the poolside and a relaxing Sampaguita
Signature Massage to complete our SMH experience.
The breakfast buffet at Savoy Cafe featured
a variety of viands, an egg station, breads, cereals, fresh fruits and
vegetables, juices, a choice of brewed coffee or chocolate and the Pinoy favorite
taho. This delightful selection fueled us for a day’s swimming and use of their
spa after. Savoy Café is an all-day dining restaurant with a constant reminder
for everyone to avoid food wastage.
We were
more than thankful for the hospitality of the hotel. But prior to our departure we were treated to
lunch showcasing the newest additions to Savoy Café’s menu, prepared by Christian
"Kit" T. Carpio.

We started it off with an appetizer of
beautifully golden fried, crispy Salt and Pepper Chicken
Skin (tossed with a flavorful blend of salt, pepper and spices, served with pinakurat vinegar dip)
and Melba Toast with Kangkong Dip. The warm and creamy blend of
spinach, rich cheeses and a hint of garlic is Chef Kit’s tribute to the late
chef Margarita Fores.
Chef Kit is an experienced Executive
Chef in hospital, city hotel, hotel resort, and restaurant setting. He has been
serving the industry for 27 successful years with highly adaptable skills and
accomplished in all cuisine types.
Before
becoming the F&B Chairman for Sustainability of Megaworld Hotels
and Resorts and Executive Chef (since July 2022), the 47-year old Chef Kit
had stints at other hotels such as Lennox Hotel in Dagupan City, Discovery
Shores Hotel Boracay and Richmonde Hotel Pasig as well at St. Luke’s
Medical City BGC from 2012 - 2021).
He also managed his own restaurant in Palawan (Tio Rod's Restaurant Bar and Lounge and was a co-owner of The Okavango Bar and Restaurant before becoming the Sous Chef of Seven Suites Hotel and Observatory in 2000 and Senior Sous Chef at Hilton Manila in 2021 to 2022.

Chef Kit
said that the Salt and Pepper Chicken Skin dish
is still in line with the hotel’s sustainability effort. Instead of throwing
off much of the chicken skin, some are served as appetizers upon request and
paired with their signature vinegar made from Pineapple peels.

We also had servings of Crispy Dinuguan, made of pork and crispy chicharon bulaklak; Crispy Pata Served with Munggo, Savoy Fried Chicken with Mushroom Sauce Dip, Pan Fried Milkfish (deboned) with rich mushroom demi glaze sauce with toasted garlic.
The Sampaguita project:
Elevating and delighting every guest’s experience
For MHR’s Sampaguita Project, the hotel chain makes sure to explore everything about this Jasmine variety and touch every visitor’s sensory journey and every guest’s experience. So that when he or she smells or sees the Sampaguita flower he would remember that warm memorable service from the Megaworld Hotels & Resorts group.

Staying at Savoy Hotel Manila was a
great experience for us. From the thoughtfully designed suite and its views to
the food choices, and the sustainability experience, our stay had truly been
relaxing, memorable, and something we look forward for more.
Overall, elevating
and delighting the five senses or “limang pandama” (five senses: sight, smell,
taste, touch, and hearing) may be a tall order but MHR group through Savoy Manila is living the Sampaguita standard.
Congratulations and more power, Savoy Hotel Manila! And thank you for our wonderful stay!
